Sometimes we begin building a business thinking we know exactly how it will be, and then when it begins to grow into something else, a good businesswoman will, if what's happening is good, embrace those changes and go with the flow. This is what's happening with Red Letter Weddings and Events.
Somewhere along the line I mentioned that I'm the Diocesan Altar Guild Director of the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin, which keeps me plenty busy planning and organizing (and attending!) meetings, workshops, conferences and events from Stockton to Ridgecrest and Taft, along with growing Red Letter Weddings and Events here in Bakersfield.
At present I'm gearing up to do a Floral 101 workshop in Oakhurst, CA in early September. I'm currently working on the North Deanery Altar Guild Gathering, in Jamestown, CA. Then there is the Province VIII Altar Guild in Burlingame, CA the first weekend in October, where I'm slated to do another floral workshop; Fall Convention in Modesto, CA, where I'm doing yet another floral workshop (I'm not a professional florist, but apparently do a pretty good job at it!); and am looking forward to July 2012 in Indianapolis at the Episcopal General Convention. In the near future I will be working with our parish guilds up and down central California, giving workshops in all aspects of wedding and event planning, as time permits.
Red Letter Weddings and Events here in Bakersfield is coming right along, too! One thing we've been doing (besides coordinating weddings!) is reviewing venues and vendors to make absolutely sure that their services are top-notch and won't disappoint our brides on the big day. We do not take "kickbacks" from vendors so are under no financial obligation to recommend them. As a result, we have an absolutely terrific list of vendors who care about excellence in their work! The wedding and event community tends to have a high turnover rate, but there are several new venues and vendors you may have not heard about...yet-- who are bringing in a breath of fresh air when it comes to creativity and talent, and have not been around so long that they have become complacent in their attitude or service.
I can direct you to websites of wedding planners who have a lot of lovely photos of the weddings they've done and sometimes I feel a bit guilty for not posting more pics, but then, my work is really the background work, much like altar guild; I'm the one who organizes it so all those pretty pictures can be taken-- my actual work is the nuts and bolts--you'll find me in front of the computer or on the phone, or else scouting around in search of the perfect thing for your wedding, negotiating the best prices, my focus on bringing it all together to give you one of the best days of your life. However--your wedding is about you, not me-- send me your wedding photos and I will gladly post them!
We assist in procuring the items and equipment what you want and need, coordinate the vendors, create the time lines, make sure everyone's on the same page, instructions followed and make it all happen for you. So far I've been asked to supply a tame halter-broken lamb and managed to find virtually the only pet lamb in Bakersfield that wouldn't go medieval in a crowd! In an upcoming project, the order is for a comedian in a bear costume--no, thank God, not for a wedding! Again--your wedding is about you, not me-- and if this is not the day where you can't have what you want, then I don't know what is!
That aside, what we care about most is that your plans and budget remain organized and on track, that your vision is fulfilled (no matter what it is!) and that your wedding day runs smoothly and perfectly--and that you don't have to worry about a thing! Hey--that's what wedding planners are for!
I have recently added the Mary Kay line of skin care and cosmetics, which is turning out to be great fun! Our brides, their moms and attendants love Mary Kay products and really enjoy pampering themselves with skin care, make up and spa parties in anticipation of the big day! And it's not just for brides! Two--no three-- things that seem to be flying off the shelf are 1) Satin Hands; 2) Lip Mask and Lip Balm set, and 3) Mary Kay's microdermobrasion set-- in this hot, dry Bakersfield heat, exfoliation and rehydration are at the top of the list! Click here to view Mary Kay online. Free shipping and delivery, and free gift with purchase over $40.
So email or give us a call and let's discuss how we can make your wedding (or event, such as bridal shower, bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner) the talk of the town; unique and specifically tailored for you and your groom! We've got a variety of wedding packages, and we can build your own. We also have payment options and plans for your convenience and yes, we take credit cards, too.
